PROJECTS
Mycelium
Mycelium is a new project in development, where artist-scientist-activist Sirintip combines the power of research with the power of artistry. Taking off from where her last album-project Carbon (2022) ended, Sirnitip continues to engage at the intersection between science and art, seeking to instill hope and joy for human progress. For the better part of the last few years, Sirintip has forged connections with research institutes and universities to better understand the biology of climate science. She now takes inspiration from learning about the microscopic world, like the interconnected “mycelium” networks of fungi. Underneath the ground (or underneath the microscope) microorganisms provide us inspiration to understand the power of individuals, and the power of the collective. As an artist, Sirintip will take inspiration from this contrast, combining songwriting, vocal performance, orchestral arrangements, multimedia, and choreography. Whether in research or in artmaking, Mycelium will shine light on an open-ended question: how can climate crisis be turned into climate joy?
