America/Beautiful with pianist Min Kwon

“Oh beautiful for spacious skies…” Most of us can easily complete the lyrics to what has long been embraced as America’s national hymn. “America the Beautiful” is a simple melody and harmony that is full of possibility. In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, pianist Min Kwon has brought together a staggering compendium of composers to create over 70 variations of the popular tune, in a deep exploration of what “America the Beautiful” truly means. The individual pieces are diverse, varying in tone, texture, and mood, but ultimately form a united whole – much like our country. “America/Beautiful” is Min Kwon’s musical journey to “find the beauty at the core of the American experiment and its credo of e pluribus unum (out of many, one).”

…a monumental statement, both about contemporary America and about contemporary that will surely establish itself as one of the major works of this century.
